Our Story (The short version)

David Hart began learning guitar in the early 1980’s studying under various teachers as well as studying jazz fundamentals at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. David spent many years performing on the Australian music scene in various bands as well as solo performances as a singer/songwriter. David was fortunate to discover his passion for teaching at an early age opening his first guitar school in Sydney Australia in 1987. David went on to open many successful music schools in Australia but in 2003 decided to take a break to develop a new concept based on his approximately two decades of experience.

In 2005 the G4 GUITAR METHOD was officially launched with the first school opening in Sydney in November of that same year. The G4 GUITAR METHOD continues to be developed and expanded with the aid of the G4 GUITAR Teachers and feedback from students around the world.

In 2009 the idea of franchising the first G4 GUITAR SCHOOL was proposed with the first official franchisees coming on board in Sydney. The G4 GUITAR METHOD is now an internationally recognised standard with 45 G4 GUITAR SCHOOLS and growing in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The G4 GUITAR METHOD Explained

The G4 GUITAR METHOD is based on what we have identified as the 7 Essential Skills of guitar playing. These skills include Picking, Chords, Arpeggios, Scales, Rhythm (Strumming), Reading and Aural. By developing these skills you will be able to learn your favourite songs faster. The 80/20 Principle is the idea that 80% of results come from just 20% of our efforts. The idea behind G4 GUITAR is we have narrowed down what we believe is the 20% that matters most and ensures you learn correctly in the least amount of time.

Structured Method of Learning

We want to put the student in control of their learning experience. Knowing how much you need to practice and what to practice gives you the clarity you need to stay focused. We achieve this via clearly defined goals and a plan to get you there. Most guitar students when asked what is the goal say “to be able to play guitar”. That is not a clearly defined goal. To play “Stairway to Heaven” is an example of a clearly defined goal. Our goals are clear and specific and our program has been used by thousands of guitar students around the world.
